My 15-year-old neighbor helps me in my studio on Fridays. Today, she made test tiles of all of my underglaze colors – something I’ve never had time to do. She did a beautiful job! These will definitely come in handy for the e-course I’m doing with Diana Fayt, one of my all-time favorite potters.
I really like the way this amber/brown and blue glaze combination breaks over the patterns I’ve stamped on the rims of these plates and bowls. I also like the new clay body I’ve just started working with – #45 Buff Stoneware from Laguna/Miller. These pieces were slab-rolled fairly thin, and so far I’ve noticed hardly any slumping, the rims have held up, and the bottoms are nice and flat.
